The Health of Pacific Peoples

Date of publication: April 2005

HP 4046

The Health of Pacific Peoples is the second in a series of summaries of the current health status of the New Zealand population produced by Public Health Intelligence (PHI) at the Ministry of Health. It is brief summary of key indicators from Tupu Ola Moui: Pacific Health Chart Book 2004. The first booklet in the series was focused on the health of the whole New Zealand population, entitled The Health of New Zealand: Total Population 2004.

Each booklet in the series gives an overview of the demographic makeup of the New Zealand population. Included in this booklet are key indicators of health outcomes, health service utilisation, risk factors and socioeconomic determinants of health for Pacific peoples compared to the total NZ population.

The indicators included in this summary booklet were chosen from the ‘Key’ indicators in Tupu Ola Moui: Pacific Health Chart Book 2004.
