Summary

This public consultation document Towards a New Zealand Medicines Strategy represents a significant first step in the process of developing a medicines strategy. The document looks at the existing systems for regulating, obtaining and managing the use of medicines and potential improvements for the future. It covers a range of areas from ensuring people make the best use of their prescription medicines to increasing understanding of the reasons for funding some medicines and not others.

The Government would like to know your views about all of the issues raised in the document and you are encouraged to make a submission to the Ministry of Health. A number of questions are raised throughout the document to help focus your responses.
