Review of Medical and Health Workforce Recruitment and Retention in Northland

Date of publication: July 2001

The Ministry of Health contracted the Council of Medical Colleges in New Zealand (CMC) in July 2000 to review the medical and health workforce situation in Northland. Specifically the Ministry requested the CMC to:
  • describe the extent and nature of medical and health workforce issues in Northland
  • provide advice to the Ministry on strategies to assist in the development of a medical workforce appropriate to Northland; and
  • consider the relevance of the findings to the broader provincial health services delivery network.

The document makes a mixture of high-level and more detailed implementation recommendations addressed to the Ministry of Health and other relevant organisations.

Please note that the report does not necessarily reflect the views of the Ministry of Health.
