Summary

The Minister of Health has released the Annual Report of the Health Workforce Advisory Committee (HWAC) for the year ending December 2004.

This is the Committee's fourth annual report. The report presents the work of HWAC in 2004 and also that of the Māori Health and Disability Workforce Sub-Committee and the Medical Reference Group. Both of these committees started their work programme in 2004 and are contributing towards a collective goal of helping to build a responsive and empowered health workforce for New Zealand.

HWAC was established under section 12 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000. The role of the committee is to advise the Minister of Health on health workforce issues that the Minister specifies by notice to the committee.
