Principal Policy Analyst

Sector Capability & Innovation Directorate

Vacancy Number 09/HR111

  • policy leadership role
  • social, economic & international policy focus
  • priority policy area with ministerial interest
Here is an opportunity to make your mark.

You will be based in a policy team at the Ministry of Health where the work spans strategic policy development and the implementation of a major policy strategy. The work relates to one of the government’s key health targets, and you will have regular engagement with the Minister and significant opportunity to influence policy direction.

The policy issues will appeal if you have an interest in social policy, economic policy, or international policy. There is scope to apply policy frameworks, consider the range of policy levers available, and develop strategic policy options and practical solutions. International obligations also add a broader policy context and added complexity to the policy work.

You will lead on cross-ministry work and engage at a senior level with other government departments in NZ and internationally. This is a policy leadership role – you’ll be mentoring and coaching more junior policy staff within this team, as well as working with senior managers and staff across the broader directorate.

If you have a passion for good quality policy analysis, a proven track record in a principal or senior analyst role, and an interest in providing intellectual leadership to other policy analysts, then call me now for a confidential discussion.

The Ministry of Health has a commitment to Equal Employment Opportunities.
