We are currently seeking an Information Analyst to join the Information Services group part of Sector Services.

The Information Directorate is responsible for providing leadership and consolidating the capacity in managing the sector’s information systems. The Directorate is responsible for developing, maintaining and ensuring access to all the key information databases held by the Ministry. It is also responsible for making and monitoring payments to health providers in the sector.

Sector Services is part of the Information Directorate and its functions add value to the Ministry and the Health sector by providing a high-quality service to health service funders and the Ministry. These services include claims and agreements management, payments to health providers, health data collection and data release.

The role of Information Services is to provide information, collected by Sector Services, to the health sector. This involves responding to ad-hoc and scheduled enquiries from throughout the Health sector.
Other services include payments to health providers and operational support to Sector Services and the wider health sector.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing expertise, advice on, analysis of, and information from selected national health information collections to Ministry projects, Ministry staff and Ministry customers and to be an initial point of contact for customer requests for health information and analyses from selected national health information collections.

Knowledge/Experience required:
To be considered for this role, the ideal person will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills and a sound knowledge of statistical techniques
  • Experience in analysing and presenting analysis and data to suit a variety of audiences (technical and non technical)
  • Sound problem structuring and solving skills
  • Sound written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a customer service focus and the ability to see situations and needs from a customer perspective; experience in representing an organisation in multi organisation forums and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Strong team working skills including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Adaptability – able to adjust to changes in work practices and to deal with competing demands and priorities
  • Ability to understand and use more advanced statistical software tools (for example – Business Objects, SAS, SQL and TPL)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent

This is a full time permanent position located in Wellington.
