Policy Analyst & Senior Policy Analyst

The Communicable Disease and Immunisation Teams are looking to fill two positions. They need a Policy Analyst and Senior policy Analyst to help find ways to reduce the burden of infections diseases in New Zealand. The Communicable Diseases and Immunisation teams are that the centre of responses to these threats, as well as ongoing efforts to increase immunisation rates and reduce the incidence and impact of other infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDs, acute rheumatic fever and tuberculosis.

We are looking for people who can proactively find solutions to a range of different situations.

A degree of anticipation and assertiveness is required. You will need to understand what Ministers and decision-makers need, be able to engage with diverse stakeholders, and help influence a sector where the Ministry does not have direct control over the delivery of health services. You don’t need to have a background in health, but you do need to learn quickly and be able to apply logic and rigorous policy thinking to a range of different topics, while also understanding the practical implications. You must be able to write well using plain English to clearly explain complex topics in one or two pages.

The Senior Policy Analyst position is permanent, full time and based in Wellington.

The Policy Analyst position is Fixed term until November 2010 to cover parental leave. This is full time and based in Wellington.
