Appointment to DHB boards

DHB boards are the governing bodies responsible for overseeing the delivery of health and disability services in their districts.

The Minister of Health appoints up to four members to each DHB board, to join the seven who are publicly elected every three years at the time of local government elections. Appointment to these governance positions is under a different process to that used by DHBs to employ operational staff.
