New Zealand Blood Service


The NZ Blood service is established by the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000.

The core functions of the NZBS are to manage the donation, collection, processing and supply of blood, blood products and services. The NZBS was created on 1 July 1998 with responsibility for the development of an integrated national blood transfusion service for New Zealand. This establishment phase is now complete and the NZBS has entered into the period of consolidation.

The NZBS Board currently consists of five members. Board members receive $14,500 per annum in line with the Cabinet Fees Framework.
