The Ministry of Health is interested in hearing your views on Improving Mental HealthConsultation document , a draft second national mental health and addiction plan.

Your feedback is important and will help to develop the plan so thank you to all who took this opportunity to make a submission.

The closing date for written submissions was Friday 29 October 2004. Submissions are now closed.


Make a submission

The Ministry welcomes all feedback. There are some key questions we would like you to think about and comment on as you read the document. These questions are found at the back of the draft plan, as a separate document below and by going to the online form.

There were four different ways to make a submission:


Make a written submission to the Ministry
You can write down your comments in the submission booklet and post it to us.


Email your submission
You can fill in the submission booklet and then email it to us.


Use the online submission form
Write down your comments in the online submission form at: www.moh.govt.nz/apps/mentalhealthsub.nsf/submission?openform


Attend a consultation meeting
Attend a consultation meeting where your comments will be recorded manually.

Additional hui
An additional hui was held on Friday 8 October at Hastings. The venue was the Heretaunga Park Complex, 821 Orchard Rd, Hastings from 10am to 3pm.


Update on Hamilton Hui
Change to date of Hamilton Hui

Please note that the Hamilton hui was held on Monday 4 October at Kirikiriroa Marae, 180 Day Street, Hamilton East. This was a change from the date first published for this hui.

How to make a written submission

To make a written submission to the Ministry you will need save the submission booklet to your own computer.

You can do this in one of two ways:
  • Right-click with your mouse on the link below and choose Save Target As, or
  • Open the submission booklet and follow the instructions below.
  1. Open the submission booklet
  2. Once you have the Word document open save it to your computer:
    • Click File
    • Select Save As
    • Type in a file name
    • Click Save

Note: When you want to complete your responses to the questions it is important that you always open this document from your own computer


Filling in the submission booklet
  1. Open the document from your own computer and complete your personal details on the first page so that we know who each submission is from.
  2. Complete your responses.

Please comment on as many questions as you wish. If you wish to make other comments, please do so at the end of the questionnaire and tell us which sections of the discussion document you are commenting on.

Note: If you complete your responses over several days please make sure you save the document to your own computer each time.

What happens next?

The closing date for written submissions was Friday 29 October 2004. Submissions are now closed.

All submissions will be acknowledged by the Ministry of Health and a summary of submissions will be sent to all those who request a copy. The summary will include the names of all those who made a submission unless individuals request their names not be published.
