This document is designed to help District Health Boards, primary care providers, public health service providers (including Medical Officers of Health) plan and prepare for a mass immunisation campaign against Group B Meningococcal disease.

The implementation strategy contains information to help health service providers coordinate their efforts with each other and with activities being done nationwide by the Ministry of Health. This document contains:

• background information on the epidemic

• the rationale for the programme and its objectives

• an overview of the clinical trials, vaccine production and safety monitoring

• planned timeframes and schedules
