The Epidemiology of Meningococcal Disease in New Zealand in 2007
The 2007 meningococcal disease annual report provides detailed information on the incidence and distribution of meningococcal disease, the basis for diagnosis, clinical features and outcome and analysis of the group B meningococcal disease epidemic strain. The report was prepared by ESR for the Ministry of Health using disease notification and laboratory data and includes detailed tables, graphs and analysis by region, ethnicity, and age for 2007, with some comparative historical data and comment.

2007

The Epidemiology of Meningococcal Disease in New Zealand in 2006
This report was prepared by Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR) for the Ministry of Health. Reviews of meningococcal disease epidemiology in New Zealand have variously been published since 1991. This report provides 2006 data and some comparative historic data.

A Prospective Study of the Effectiveness of the New Zealand Meningococcal B Vaccine
A study looking at the effectiveness of MeNZB™ vaccine up to June 2006 estimated that the MeNZB™ vaccine was effective, with an estimated efficacy of 73 percent (Kelly C, Arnold R, Galloway Y, O'Hallahan J. A prospective study of the effectiveness of the New Zealand meningococcal B vaccine. American Journal of Epidemiology, October 2007).

2006

Evaluation of Meningococcal B Immunisation National Roll-out
A study looking at the effectiveness of MeNZB™ vaccine up to the end of December 2006 estimated that the MeNZB™ vaccine was effective, with an estimated efficacy of 68 percent (Kelly et al 2007). The estimate will be reassessed using data up to the end of 2007.

The Epidemiology of Meningococcal Disease in New Zealand in 2005
Reviews of meningococcal disease epidemiology in New Zealand have variously been published since 1991. The 2005 meningococcal disease annual report is now available. The report contains detailed meningococcal disease information on all groups by age, ethnicity and region.
