Health & Disability Intelligence (HDI) is the epidemiology group for the Ministry of health located in the Health and Disability Systems Strategy Directorate.

HDI has the Ministry of Health's statutory responsibility to monitor the health of the New Zealand population by analysing health outcomes, risks and determinants to measure how healthy the New Zealand population is over time and to examine inequalities in health across regional boundaries and between various population groups.

To achieve its mission of Charting our Health, the mission and overall goal of Health & Disability Intelligence is to provide strategic leadership and co-ordination for transferring knowledge throughout the sector.

The three core values of integrity, professionalism, co-operation and security are the guiding principles and behaviours for Health & Disability Intelligence.
